Green Building

Our building work combines craft and ecology—using wood, natural finishes, and regenerative materials whenever possible. We take on meaningful projects of various sizes that align with our values and skills—from custom shelving and garden structures to outbuildings, studios, writer’s cabins, and beyond. While we occasionally collaborate on larger projects, our focus remains on human-scale building that emphasizes integrity and long-term resilience.

Supporting Systems

We also design and construct supportive systems such as composting setups, rainwater harvesting, and site-scale ecological features that help each project function as a living whole. These systems strengthen the connection between buildings and the environments they inhabit, ensuring every design contributes to both human and ecological well-being.

Natural Building & Finishes

We are able to draw on a range of natural building techniques and materials to create healthy, sustainable structures for interested clients. Our knowledge base includes natural building methods such as straw bale and cordwood, as well as modern systems like natural insulation using wood fiber, hemp, and wool. We also work with a variety of natural finishes—oils, limewash, clay plasters, and other no and low-toxicity products—that support indoor air quality and reduce the overall environmental impact of construction.

Whole Systems Design

To us, green building means more than constructing efficient structures—it’s about how people inhabit and care for the places they live. Our approach looks at the whole system: the built environment and the living elements that surround it—plants, water, soil, and the systems that tie them together. We believe true sustainability comes from designing in symbiosis with these systems, creating spaces where human needs and ecological health support one another.
